For Adobe Max 2014, I participated in Russell Brown’s pre-conference session themed around Kaiju. Using monster references from the Stan Winston School, I created bold, large-scale vector illustrations that pushed both style and technique.
Each poster required careful layering, texture work, and color separation to achieve a screen-printed aesthetic while staying fully digital. I used Adobe Illustrator extensively, building gradients, halftones, and distressed textures to give the characters a gritty, cinematic feel. The process involved refining silhouettes, exaggerating features for impact, and experimenting with vibrant palettes that would hold up at poster scale.
The result was a pair of striking designs, one bold and colorful and the other dark and ominous, that captured the spirit of the Kaiju theme. I also produced a custom t-shirt design during the conference.
